Friday Favorites

Several of my Florida (or formerly from Florida) friends are doing a "Friday favorites" where we all do the same topic. This week Kim asked us to write about our most memorable costume.

I wish I had a photo of the year I was in sixth grade. I dressed up as a Cabbage Patch Kid. I made the costume myself and am sure the funniest part was that I wore a stocking over my face. It kind of smushed my nose down and made it look flat like a Cabbage Patch Doll's nose. Looking back I wonder if I didn't look more like a bank robber then a doll.

Mike's favorite costume is "Cloudy with a Chance of Showers". He dresses all in black or gray and then has cotton clouds on his shirt. When someone asks him what his costume is he tells them he pulls out a spray bottle and tells them he is "Cloudy with a Chance of Showers".

Hope you and your family had a fun memorable evening. My girls had fun dressing up. More photos of them coming soon.

YEAH! PHILLIES!!!!

Right now we hear people screaming, banging pots and pans, honking horns and of course fireworks!!! Mike went to game 4 of the World Series and said it was so fun to be amidst all of the crazy Philly "Phans". I actually lived in Philly (well close by) when they won the world series in 1980. I was seven at the time and can clearly recall the day they won!

This waas taken on Pearl's actual birthday. She is telling Mickey she is 2!
(Notice Mickey's two fingers. The characters don't talk.)

Both of the girls were so excited to see all of the characters and were not scared. Pearl was a little unsure about Goofy and Pluto, I am not sure if it was because they were so tall. The only other "character" Pearl did not hug was Alice in Wonderland, I guess she just did not know who that was so why hug a "stranger".

Our Florida Girls and the very large Sandhill Cranes

We had a great time at Disney! We just got home today and are trying to catch up on laundry and sleep, so I will post more details later. Here are a few pictures from our first day at Magic Kingdom. thanks to Auntie Grandma (aka Carla) and Uncle Papa (Rick) for all of the fun and inside tips.

Disney is in the details!

Rose and Avery catching up on old times. Our Florida friends Chris and Emily and their two kids spent the week at Disney while we were there.

Pearl checking out Mary Hannah's hair. " How do you get your hair to grow so long at this age?" (Mary Hannah is four months younger then Pearl .) "Do you use product?"

Meeting Daisy. No one ever told me that you have to wait and wait in very long lines in the heat to meet the characters. That is if you are lucky enough to spot them.

In front of Cinderella's castle. (It is not on fire the smoke is from the fireworks.)

Emily and I on the Small World ride with our girls. The last time we saw each other Pearl was about two months old and Mary Hannah had not yet made her debut.

Avery and Rose were getting quite cozy on this romantic ride. Luckily they had plenty of chaperones along. Since they are only 3 and 4 and not 13 and 14 we let some the smooches and snuggles slide. But in ten years...

The regular parade got canceled but we saw the rainy day version which includes all of the characters anyway.

Rose was so excited to see Stitch. I am not sure why as she hasn't ever seen a show or movie with him in it. She knew his name and ran up to meet him. Maybe she was just as excited as I w as that we finally saw a character without a long line in front of him.

Friday Favorites
This morning at 3:30 a.m. my friend Stacey sent out this urgent email:

I know you girls don't have anything better to do...Ha! But I would love for you all to start doing Friday Favorites with me...sometimes I do a place, a fun thing, or just randomness...like the post from today. We could even take turns picking a theme...please. I think it could be fun.:)

Now to be honest Stacey lives in Vienna, Austria, so it was not actually 3:30 her time. Stacey, her husband Brad and their three beautiful children are missionaries in Austria. Her blog is a very fun place to learn a little bit about another culture and she always has really cool photos of really cool things that we do not have here in the US. Stacey also like so to cook so she shares lots of yummy recipes too. If you would like to check out her blog go to http://5hunters.blogspot.com/

In honor of Stacey's request to do Friday Favorites I am going post my favorite funny photos this week. (Because I already have the pics. on my computer and am to lazy to take some new pics. at the moment.) These pictures were taken last week at The Hands on House (seen on Jon and Kate plus 8).
The before picture. Pearl with her friends Laura.

Rose asked if she could paint Pearl's face. I said "yes".

So far not too bad.

Pearl starts to "help".

The finished product.

This photo needs a caption. Post your ideas for me.

Hope our Friday favorites made you smile. Now join us and post your own Friday Favorites!

TIGER PRESCHOOL
Rose started her first day of preschool today! I can hardly believe my baby is old enough to go to "school". She has a very busy week this week. This Saturday she is turning four. Suday we are leaving for a trip to Disney. Below are some photos of her day and captions in Rose's own words.

I had so much fun at school. I like it at school. I am having fun at school.

I am making my name tag. Pearl is taking stickers.

I like my student teachers. They help me go to the gym.

I was playing a game at the Tiger Olympics.

I was standing with the Tiger.

I am playing hockey.

Pearl likes the balloons. Daddy is picking her up so she can touch the tiger balloons.

Me and my burger.

Pearl is shutting her eyes.
