This morning we celebrated "Christmas" with Rose at our house. She enjoyed unwrapping her presents one little piece of paper at a time. Her favorite present was the baby "bobbles" as she calls them. She fed the baby, herself and daddy. Rose is also enjoying pushing her baby in the stroller and sitting in it herself.

Merry Christmas!
Hi there...we just returned from a visit to my family in Michigan. So strange to be sitting on our balcony, enjoying the 75 degree evening weather when we were in 30 degree weather this morning. After much time in the car the last week, we look forward to just sitting by the tree and sitting still (well, as still as Rose will allow us to be)... we are thinking of you this holiday--may you enjoy some silence and stillness during the season and the comfort and company of those who love you much. Merry merry.

Sorry it's been awhile since our last post. our computer has been acting funny and we haven't been able to post a lot of pictures. It hasn't stopped us from taking them, tho.
November was a busy month for us, and December is much the same. Rachel and Rose took a visit to our friends in Nashville while Mike traveled to Seattle for work. One of these times, we hope the whole familty can enjoy time in the pacific northwest.
For Thanksgiving, we traveled to the snowy north to spend time with Mike's mom who was recovering from a long time in the hospital. The doctor prescribed a large dose of Rose, which seemed to help. We will repeat that perscription at Christmas. Rose wasn't too thrilled about the layers of clothes she had to wear.
Last year, we didn't put up a tree because we were moving. This year, we have decked the halls--even if its just for Rose. She has been so excitedsaying "ooooh!" at every sighting of Christmas lights. I understand what is meant by seeing Christmas through the eyes of a child.
It's strange to see Christmas lights when its 80 degrees outside. Decorations in South FLorida are very different than what we are used to. The idea is the more lawn ornaments that blink, flash, twirl and inflate, the more festive you are. Hmm. Don't worry--we'll be sure to share pictures.
Enjoy these pictures from over the last month. We miss spending the holidays with all of you.

Halloween Photos
Today, Rose had fun (ok., mommy had fun, too) as a little duck. Since 'duck' is her favorite animal, it only seemed appropriate. We were surprised she kept the hat on the entire time. A few weeks back Rachel took Rose to a farm nearby.

Hurricane Damage
Here are a few scenes from the last week--really hard to put it into pictures what it is really like around here.
1 and 2) the storm approaches
3) Rose's storm shelter--she learned to climb into the dryer and thought it was quite funny
4) Rose's hurricane meal time
5) damage at our complex--this tree blocked our way out the first day
6) the awning from our stairwell is now in our stairwell
7) that was our carwash at our complex
8 and 9) just two examples of trees down--this is what it looks like everywhere you look around town. No tree was untouched. Some of these trees are huge.
10, 11, 12) a trip to the store. No power. No food on the shelves. Rose wonders...where are the lights?!
13) a FEMA line. People waiting for hours for ice and water.
